Mission Statement

AlpacaWatch shall collect and distribute data to alert owners of issues that may reflect on the health and welfare of Camelids, and more specifically: alpacas and llamas.

The AlpacaWatch mission statement shall be achieved through the accomplishment of the following goals. AlpacaWatch shall:

• Configure and maintain a website to facilitate membership, collection and distribution of data
   
• Compile contact information for members to alert them of issues that may affect their herd.
   
• Create a network of actively participating members for the collection of information.
   
• Provide a forum where alpaca owners can discuss alpaca, Camelid, health and safety issues.
   
• Identify and develop strategies to collect, provide access to and distribute data relative to the health and welfare of the herd.
   
• Develop an on-line library to aid owners in adopting appropriate techniques to best protect their alpacas from possible health issues and threats.
   
• Foster collaboration between veterinarian teaching hospitals and veterinarians to increase the knowledge base and quality of treatment available.
